Las historias de superación personal generan simpatía instantánea. Fundamentalmente porque nos dan esperanza. El mensaje es claro: depende de nosotros. Es un camino que cualquiera puede tomar. Y eso es estupendo. Solo queda recorrerlo y disfrutar luego del trayecto realizado.

Initially, I constructed a long post in response to a lot of negativity I’ve recently received for having 7 kids, but ultimately decided I didn’t need to dwell on the negativity here. 🙅🏻‍♀️ This is simply a portion of my journey in life & a platform that connects me to other amazing people and mothers who have an interest in supporting one another, not just physically but emotionally & spiritually. 😇 One question I get a lot is “How do you manage your time with so many children for working out, etc?” 😅 First of all, I have an amazing husband who is very supportive, older kids who can help here & there, plus parents and in-laws who are willing to help out when needed. I also know if there’s a will there’s a way. I started just working out at home, but once I began training with a professional trainer, it got to be too much for family, so I began paying for daycare at the gym. Now, my hubby & I have it set up where 3 days/week we go while they are all in school. I do cardio before anyone is awake on Mondays & we plan on going on Saturdays & will have an older child help out for a bit. It’s been an adjustment for us, but it’s working really well for now. I always say, “You do what you can!” Be strict about your goals & flexible on how to achieve them! There are plenty of moms out there who have made tons of progress from their own homes. Eso es exactamente lo que hizo la estadounidense Jessica Enslow, y los resultados que logró luego de adoptar hábitos saludables es tan espectacular que deslumbra en la redes sociales, donde comparte fotos en las que sus más de 100 mil seguidores confunden a su hija de 22 años como su hermana.

FIVE RULES I've learned work best for my body to stay leaner without doing tons of cardio. 1. STOP eating when I'm SATISFIED not completely full. {I've done so much better at this than I used to!} 🙌🏼 It takes awhile for our brains to realize we are full, so eating slowly and making a conscious effort to stop when I feel satisfied has helped. 2. Make sure I'm eating plenty of protein at each meal, and make sure my carb sources aren't just empty calories, like soda or junk food. My go-to carbs are oatmeal, fruit and whole grain breads. 3. I keep snacking to a minimum. I may grab a bite or two of my kids white toast, fries or cereal, or have a few chocolate chips to satisfy my cravings, but if I am doing it because I'm hungry, that is where things can start to digress. I snack on jerky or protein chips if I truly need something to tie me over until my next meal. 4. I don't overindulge on cheat meals. Maybe once a week I'll have an appetizer and dessert, but I still always choose a healthier entree for my main course, like grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side or salmon. My metabolism just can't handle a burger, fries, milkshake, and dessert once or twice a week, unless I up my cardio and workout more! So during times like this, where I'm only making it into the gym about twice a week, I use my cheats on treats 🍩🍰🍪. 5. I know it helps control my appetite and increases my metabolism, but I still have to make sure I stick to the previous four things I've discovered more recently in my journey to keep the fat off! 💗

Luego de tener a su primer hijo, a los 19 años, Enslow ganó peso rápidamente, y entendió que le costaría volver a su figura de antes del embarazo. “Literalmente llegué a casa del hospital e inmediatamente me puse mis jeans de antes del embarazo solo para descubrir que no irían más allá de la mitad del muslo”, contó. “Aquí es cuando se instalan el miedo extremo y una pequeña depresión”, agregó.

My #transformation has been a lot more than just physical the past 23 years. The girl on the left was so excited to be a mother, but had no idea what lied ahead. My kids were definitely the highs in my life for many years, but the lows got pretty low. There were many days & years I thought I was in a living hell I would never escape. Low self-esteem & fear kept me in my place. Nursing school forced me out of it. I had to extend myself to others daily when I was pretty much an introvert at the time. Getting out in the workforce taught me that I could care for myself & kids if I needed to. I learned to believe in myself & found the confidence to change things, and by so doing, found a lot more happiness & peace. 😌 Life isn’t all roses now for me, but the girl on the right has learned when we take care of ourselves physically, emotionally, spiritually and make sure we are in healthy relationships, wonders can take place. I dreaded getting older throughout my life, but not anymore. I love that I know my worth & am surrounded by the most amazing people. Know YOUR worth! Love yourself! Take care of yourself! Los años se acumularon, y los hijos y los kilos también. Enslow dio a luz a su último hijo, el séptimo, en 2013. Pero en 2017, con el más niño ya en el jardín, decidió que era hora de dedicarle algo de atención a su cuerpo, maltratado por años de malos hábitos. “Solía ​​ponerle Nutella a todo, a las tostadas, a las banana”, explicó, y continuó: “Ahí fue cuando las cosas empezaron a ponerse realmente fuera de control con mi cuerpo y finalmente me impulsaron a cambiar mis hábitos diarios”.

Para emprender el cambio, que la mujer documentó celosamente y lo compartió en la red social Instagram, donde ya supera los 100 mil seguidores, Enslow cuenta que el apoyo de su esposo (el segundo, con el que tuvo sus últimos tres hijos) y de sus hijos mayores resultó fundamental, aunque aclaró que el problema, como para toda madre, fue encontrar tiempo entre la cargada agenda de una madre full time.

Dieta saludable y ejercicios

Enslow va al gimnasio tres veces a la semana mientras sus hijos están en la escuela, y también se levanta temprano cada lunes por la mañana para hacer cardio. “Si hay voluntad hay una manera”, dijo.

The way I eat and exercise now is easy to maintain. Am I as lean as I used to be? Nope. “Ha sido un ajuste para toda la familia, pero está funcionando realmente bien por ahora. Siempre digo: ‘¡Haz lo que puedas! ¡Sé estricto con tus objetivos y flexible sobre cómo lograrlos!’. Hay muchas madres que han progresado muchísimo desde sus hogares. ¡Haga modificaciones, si es necesario, pero todos podemos mejorar nuestra salud si realmente lo queremos!”, agregó.

En cuanto a la dieta, la mujer cuenta que aprendió a dejar de comer cuando se siente satisfecha. Un gran primer paso. Además, come mucha proteínas en cada comida y sus carbohidratos incluyen avena, fruta y pan de grano entero.

También es fanática de los suplementos, y dice que se siente más productiva cuando los toma, incluso en los días que no está ejercitándose.

Y a pesar de su gran pérdida de peso, ha escapado de estrías y piel flácida.
